Eggbred Review

Home / Eggbred Review

There’s something frustrating about finding a breakfast spot that looks promising on paper but leaves you waiting 20 minutes for a single burrito. I ran into that exact situation at EggBred in Seal Beach, and honestly, I almost walked out. But here’s the twist. The wait was absolutely worth it.

This review covers everything you need to know about EggBred Seal Beach, from their signature breakfast burritos to the service experience and whether the long wait times other reviewers mention are something you should brace for. I visited on July 17, 2026, for a solo lunch and ordered their Applewood Smoked Bacon Breakfast Burrito.

If you’re searching for EggBred reviews that go beyond the usual star rating, you’re in the right place. I’ll break down the flavor, portion size, pricing, and whether this spot deserves a spot in your regular rotation.

First Impressions

Stepping into EggBred Seal Beach, the space feels clean and casual without trying too hard. It’s on the smaller side, which works in its favor. The seating is limited but not in a way that would turn away most customers. I walked in without a wait at the counter, which was a pleasant surprise given what I had read about their popularity.

The noise level was manageable, nothing like those chaotic breakfast spots where you need to shout to be heard. There was no overpowering smell when I entered, which sometimes happens at places with heavy frying or strong spices. The overall vibe is exactly what you want from a neighborhood breakfast spot. Friendly, unpretentious, and focused on the food.

Service Experience

The cashier was quick and alert when I placed my order. I didn’t have any issues there. The 15 minute wait for a single breakfast burrito was the main takeaway here, and it’s something other reviewers have mentioned too. One Google reviewer noted waiting 10 to 15 minutes even when ordering ahead, which aligns with my experience. The tradeoff seems to be that they make everything fresh rather than holding items, which explains the wait but also contributes to the quality. If you want a high-protein breakfast you can make at home without the wait, my Greek Yogurt Bowl comes together in about 5 minutes.

The Food

I ordered the Applewood Smoked Bacon Breakfast Burrito, and it did not disappoint. The burrito arrived after about a 15 minute wait, which felt long for a single item but the quality made me forget the time. The soft scrambled eggs were rich and creamy, with visible chives mixed in that added freshness. Even without the salsa, the eggs and cheese combination had a lot of flavor.

The beer battered potatoes are a standout component. They were crispy and not soggy at all, with the beer batter flavor coming through clearly. If you want a homemade potato side that’s crispy without the beer batter element, my Air Fryer Potato Wedges are a solid option. This is not your average breakfast potato. The Applewood Smoke Bacon was nice and crispy with good smoky flavor that didn’t overpower the other ingredients. It reminded me of the bacon I use in my Cottage Cheese Egg Bites with Bacon recipe. The tortilla itself was fresh, not stale, and held everything together without falling apart.

The salsa verde that comes on the side had great depth and a bit of a kick without being too spicy. I actually ended up trying the chipotle salsa Roja based on what I read, and it added a nice layer of flavor with that same moderate heat level. The portion size is generous for a breakfast burrito, making it a solid value at around $12.89 after tax. If you want to make a high-protein breakfast wrap at home, my Breakfast Quesadilla is a quick alternative.

Value for Money

At $11.79 plus $1.10 in tax, totaling $12.89 before tip, the Applewood Smoked Bacon Breakfast Burrito delivers solid value. You get a good sized portion with quality ingredients. The beer battered potatoes alone feel like a premium touch compared to typical breakfast spots. I compared this to Nik’s on 2nd Street, a local favorite that gets good reviews, and Eggbred came out ahead in terms of overall flavor and execution.

How It Compares

Compared to other breakfast spots in the Seal Beach area, Eggbred stands out for its house-made sauces and signature beer battered potatoes. The milk buns they use for sandwiches are frequently mentioned in reviews as what sets them apart. While some competitors might serve you faster, the flavor balance here is harder to find. The wait time is a legitimate consideration, but if you’re willing to plan ahead or order via their app, the quality justifies the extra minutes.

What Worked and What Didn’t

Pros
  • Exceptional flavor in the breakfast burrito with rich, creamy eggs
  • Beer battered potatoes are crispy and full of flavor
  • Generous portion size for the price point
  • Fresh tortilla and crispy Applewood smoked bacon
  • Clean, casual atmosphere with manageable noise levels
Cons
  • 15 minute wait time for a single burrito even with no line
  • Limited seating inside the small dining area
  • Other reviewers report similar wait times even with advance orders

The Verdict

Rating: 9/10

Eggbred Seal Beach delivers an outstanding breakfast burrito experience that makes the wait worthwhile.

The Applewood Smoked Bacon Breakfast Burrito is easily one of the best I’ve had, with rich eggs, crispy bacon, and those standout beer battered potatoes. The 15 minute wait is the only real drawback, but for a solo lunch visit where I had time to spare, it was absolutely worth it. This is a place I will return to try other menu items.

The Short Version

  • Expect a 15 minute wait even with no line at the counter

  • Order ahead via the app to potentially reduce wait time

Things Worth Knowing

  • Order Ahead
Use the EggBred app or website to order in advance. While one reviewer still waited 10 to 15 minutes with an advance order, it may help reduce your wait during peak hours.
  • Salsa Choice
You get a choice of salsa verde or chipotle salsa Roja. Both have good flavor with moderate heat. The Roja has a bit more kick if you like that.
  • Try the Potatoes
The beer battered potatoes are a signature item that shows up across multiple menu items. They are crispy and flavorful, not your typical breakfast potato.
  • Visit Timing
The Seal Beach location is open Mon to Fri 7am-2pm and Sat to Sun 7am-3pm. Lunch visits like mine tend to be quieter than peak breakfast rush.
